Pharmacy Delivery Driver
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Delivery Driver will transport medication to patients in an accurate, safe and secure manner while protecting patient confidentiality and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Transports home delivery prescriptions for patients of Ocean Health Initiatives.
- Deliver vaccines, medications, or other items as needed including inter-office mail, medical supplies and equipment.
- Properly identify patient when delivering medications with absolute accuracy following patient identification policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper communication in case of unsuccessful delivery attempts by using a company-assigned phone or tablet to contact the patient, confirm their location, and follow established protocols before leaving the delivery site.
- Maintain delivery log of activities per policy and procedure, which may include checking and/or logging recipient identification.
- Completes related paperwork required by OHI to document and justify miles driven.
- Ensures that the pharmacy delivery vehicle is maintained including but not limited to fueling, cleaning, and scheduled maintenance. Report all related repair needs to the VP of Facility Operations as soon as possible.
- Comply with all regulations related to confidentiality of patient information.
- Ensure timely delivery of medications by preparing routes using proper navigation programs.
- Notify customers if deliveries will be materially late from established time schedules.
- Operate a motor vehicle for multiple hours per day, making multiple delivery stops while maintaining focus, accuracy, and adherence to delivery schedules.
- Safely navigate traffic, adverse weather conditions, and time-sensitive delivery deadlines.
- Conduct electronic payments and transactions for patients as needed.
- Ensure appropriate temperature control and secure transportation of pharmaceuticals.
- Completes all mandatory in-services in a timely fashion.
- Adheres to Corporate Compliance policies.
- Maintains monthly scorecard metric threshold at 80%.
- Is highly accountable for one's own productivity. In order to maintain transparency, all projects must be represented clearly on a project board in Monday.com. Responsible for ensuring the board is always updated and accurate and that information is accessible to those that need it.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Licensure
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
- Registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy is required within the first six months of employment (OHI will assist).
- Must possess a current and valid New Jersey driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company's insurance and bonding policies.
- Ability to interact courteously and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and organize time well.
- Ability to work occasionally in confined, noisy or dusty environments.
- Ability to understand, retain and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed instructions, delivery documentation, and specifications.
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to safely operate a motor vehicle and perform job duties.
- Frequent, repetitive use of both hands for grasping and handling.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
