DescriptionThe Pharmacy Driver supports Pharmacy operations by delivering medications to patient homes, as ordered by the Pharmacist or Primary Care Provider, in a timely and accurate manner. The Pharmacy Driver will assist in preparing prescriptions for delivery based on safety standards and Department of Transportation requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following description is a general representation of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Prepare and deliver medication orders to patient homes on assigned route(s) using company vehicle. Ensure all medications are stored in a safe and secure manner, avoiding exposure to temperature extremes or other external factors.
- Ensure accurate, safe, and timely delivery of patient medications through hand-held device for routing, customer delivery information, and maintaining possession during travel. Ensure proper recordkeeping of deliveries for audits.
- Communicate with patients in a professional manner to alter them of scheduled deliveries to assist in providing delivery directly to patient and/or designee.
- Maintain company vehicle in good working condition, reports any issues to immediate supervisor for maintenance. Adhere to traffic and safety laws and best practices at all times.
- Assist with administrative or clerk-type activities to assist in pharmacy operations in absence of deliveries.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure, Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Active and Unencumbered Driver’s License, and Vehicle Insurance required. CDL preferred but not required.
- Able to meet company requirements for Motor Vehicle Report annually.
- Experience in transporting biological, sensitive, pharmaceutical, or similar materials strongly preferred.
- Experience in Pharmacy preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Able to work independently and complete assignments in time allotted.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs for data entry.
- Able to multitask effectively and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills: able to demonstrate empathy, respect, and establish professional relationships with people of diverse ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to speak a language other than English fluently preferred.
Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
